We are finalizing the Children’s Entertainment scheduled for the 2010 Westland Summer Festival. Each year the Festival Committee searches high and low for fun, new things for the whole family. Once again, we have a great lineup of entertainment for kids of all ages! Check back often for additional details!!!
Great American Duck Race BRAND NEW this year is the addition of the Great American Duck Race!! You can’t watch ducks race without smiling!! This show offers audience participation and lots of fun. Members of the audience are randomly chosen to release the ducks for each race!! Fun for kids of ALL AGES!!!
Premier Animal Attractions BRAND NEW this year is the addition of Premier Animal Attractions. Children of all ages will love getting a closer look at these rare and unique exotic animals. Offering a variety of animals from a 3 lb fox to a kangaroo to a tiger. Visit Premier Animal Attractions website to see the various animals they have and come out to the Westland Summer Festival and have a chance to get your photo taken with one of these beautiful, rare and exotic creatures.
A Petting Farm Returning this year is the very popular petting farm. Kids will have an opportunity to get up close to a wide variety of lovable farm friends. Pony rides will also be available.
Westland Festival Baby Contest Sponsored by the Westland Civitans Applications are being accepted for the Westland Festival Baby Contest for 2010. The contestants must be between the ages of 6 months and two years old. There are 4 categories of entry: Boys from 6 months to 1 year old on June 30th 2010; Girls from 6 months to 1 year on June 30th 2010; Boys 1 to 2 years old on June 30th of 2010; and Girls 1to 2 years old on June 30th 2010. The top six vote getters, based on votes collected, in each category will appear on stage July 4th and one final winner will be selected from each category by a panel of judges. The initial votes for each contestant will be determined by the amount of money deposited at the Baby Contest Booth for each contestant (one penny is one vote) and the top six contestants in each category will be on stage for the final judging. The final judging will be based on the judge’s opinion of the contestant's appearance, expression, and parent’s comments. The final winner in each category will receive a $50 savings bond. The remainder of the money collected will be used for local handicapped projects and the Civitan International Research Center which is involved in research to prevent and cure mental and physical defects in those less fortunate.
Applications will be available at the Westland Bailey Recreation Center and the Westland Chamber of Commerce.
